The brightness of an LCD Monitor is measured in cd\/m\u00b2. Brightness is also called black level\u2014and that\u2019s a better term because it controls how dark the picture\u2019s darkest areas can get, not the overall brightness. And that\u2019s critical for getting top picture quality. Ideally, a TV should be able to display deep blacks without losing the near-black detail within the darkest areas. The aspect ratio of a LCD monitor, like any ratio, is a proportional representation expressed as two distinct numbers separated by a colon. The aspect ratio describes the correlation between width and height. Frequently encountered monitor aspect ratios include traditional 4:3, and widescreen 16:9.
